Instruction * Curriculum * Elementary Curriculum
 Minimize
The Department of Elementary Instruction offers course syllabi for language arts, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies for grades Kindergarten through fifth grade to ensure the delivery of a consistent curriculum from school to school and teacher to teacher. Needs Based Instruction (NBI) provides a daily opportunity to engage in extra study in a core area. This period provides each academic team the opportunity to remediate and enrich the academic experiences of students as needed. Benchmark assessments, done through Thinkgate, help to identify student needs, target instruction, and guide remediation.  Additionally, the department plans, coordinates and conducts a variety of teacher training activities throughout the year. Teacher training ensures that students are taught with best teaching practices that maximize learning. District-wide instructional delivery and trends in student progress are monitored, assessed, improved upon and shared with school leadership teams through the elementary department.
