The Purpose of the Fannin County Nutrition Program is to serve healthy, nutritious meals in a clean and safe environment, to meet the needs of children in the school system and to educate them in proper nutrition for a healthy future.
Fannin County provides free breakfast to all students in the school system. Through the National School Lunch program, students are offered a variety of choices for lunch.
The Fannin County Nutrition program consists of 41 employees. Each school has a nutrition team made up of a nutrition manager, assistant manager, and nutrition assistants. Annually, nutrition employees receive 12 hours of inservice training including areas of health and nutrition, food and facility safety, culinary skills, menu management, business marketing and management, equipment use and care, and public relations.
